Ten simple rules to live by
The Gwinnet Daily Post in its editorial ,"Ten simple rules to live by" trys to present an alternative to displaying the ten commandments in a public building by making a few slight revisions in the text and hanging then up anyhow under a different name, "ten rules to live by". Included in these ten rules are three references to a 'creator'. Therein lies the problem. As difficult as it might be for the believers of Creationism to understand, there are millions of people who
do not subscribe to that theory and I'm not talking about Islamic terrorists, who claim to be on the highway to heaven every time they murder an infidel...or non believer.
I don't have a problem with such displays, but I can understand how they might conflict with the separation of church and state concept in the eyes of some folks.
I believe that every American has the right to worship or not worship as he chooses, but I don't think it's realistic to assume that everyone buys into that. Being the grandson of a hard-line minister of the cloth I came to realize at an early age that one man's prejudice can be another man's holy grail. Maybe we can cut to the chase and limit the wall hanging to one rule, the hardest one of all, "love thy neighbor like thyself". There's another one that says, "love thy enemy as thyself", but I would'nt touch that one with a ten foot pole.

yeah, it does get in to the grey area of state/church relationship, which does get a little wish-washy- who are they to say everyone should buy into the christian faith??
it took me forever to find a blog that wasn't about politics or iraq,
i don't understand any of those things, really i feel like people are speaking a different language when they talk about them :/
hopefully you can straighten things out for me.
