Friend or foe

George W. Bush has once again demonstrated his worldly knowledge
and accumen in assessing who our friends are by attempting to allocate control of our ports to a member country of the United Arab Emirates, an organization with proven ties to terrorists organizations. The president
holds forth the notion that these countries, including Saudi Arabia, are our friends and present no danger to the security of our ports. Whether they do or not, the track record speaks for itself and Americans are dumbfounded and enraged as to why this president, in the face of opposition from his own party, is bound and determined to go forward with his decision. Is it just a matter of business, BIG business? Ernest Wade of Loganville, in his letter of Feb.22, said it all when he wrote, "our port security should never be under the control of any nation much less one that is favored by Al-Qaida"
We seem to have a president who suffers under the illusion that there are Arab nations out there that love us and he is willing to prove that point if it kills us. And it could.
As Ernest Wade put it,"Just when I think our government could'nt possibly be more idiotic, it does in spades". Look for the administration spin doctors to put a happy face on this farce and the lap dogs to bark their approval. I don't think I'll be planning any ocean cruises from American ports any time soon.
