An inward view
Can anyone of this generation seriously envision a world at peace with itself? In my nearly 80 years on this coil I have never experienced such a sense of despair and outrage at the follies bestowed upon us by a handful of brain dead zealots who, incidentally hold sway over millions of the worlds citizens. The finger of guilt is almost always pointed in directions
nowhere near in proximity to ourselves. The Moslem countries blame the western nations for all their travails, often justifiably so, and the western nations in turn, deny all guilt and loftily proclaim Islamic fantatics as the culprits...often justifiably so. Where then, does that leave us in our continuing quest to douse the fires of death and destruction? So far we seem to be stuck on a treadmill leading nowhere. It seems that whenever nations, sometimes with noble intent, interfere in the affairs of other cultures, of which they have little or no knowledge, the results, as we have seen, can be catatrophic and often fatal. Unfortunately this 'interferance' is often motivated be less than noble intentions. All too often it is based on the simple premise that might is right and a ' to the victor go the spoils' mentality. We are all of us, mere mortals, and wisdom seldom reigns when dealing with those weaker and poorer than ourselves. The overriding specters of greed and arrogance are never far afield. There may come a time when a revelation will come to pass that the clock is running down and with each year that goes by, so are our options. We'll either find a way to live in harmony or go the way of the dinosaur, another irrelevant footprint
in history.
