Iran
It looks as though we are about to embark upon a new chapter in our ongoing quest to control and dominate the activities in other countries we conclude to be threatening to our national security. This administration has determined that Iran, for example, cannot be allowed to proceed with its nuclear program for fear that it will include the manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction. While Iran insists that it does not intend to manufacture nuclear bombs, we are'nt buying it. Its hard to imagine that Iran or any other country, including North Korea, would be stupid enough to carry out threats to nuke the rest of the world knowing full well what would happen to them if they did. The point is that there are already numerous countries with nuclear weapons capability and many of them have far from what can be considered stable governments. Some might even include ourselves in that consideration. Can nuclear weapons in anybody's possession be anything but frightening? Pre-emptive air strikes and military intervention are not off the table if Iran, and possibly North Korea as well, do not agree to abandon their nuclear ambitions and frankly, unless cooler heads prevail, the Iraq 'adventure' may be looked back upon as a walk in the park. You have to wonder how it came to be that the world is cursed with so many zany heads of state. I suppose it's only fair that we shouldn't be the exception.
