Through the bedroom window

Never in my lifetime have I seen such preoccupation with other peoples sexual orientation as exists today. We're being told that marriages between same sex people somehow threatens the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. I'm beginning to feel guilty that my marriage of almost 40 years doesn't seem to be in the slightest jeopardy, except perhaps when I hog all the covers on a cold night. Can there be any doubt that this whole thing has to do with the concept that gay people are dysfunctional to begin with and therefore not worthy of engaging in tradional functions alongside we 'normal' folks. I don't know about you, but over the years I've seen precious little "sanctity" in a lot of conventional marriages, which has led me to question the 'right' of those who insist upon everybody adhering to the rigid standards they want to impose. Humans are a diverse species and just like race and color, our sexual orientation is'nt something we get to choose . Of course there are those who don't accept this premise. There are also those who believe in the tooth fairy and the flat earth theory. Finally, why should any one care who marries whom in the first place. With more than 20 million gay people populating the United States, surely some of them ought to be able to bind their relationships in some formal ritual without all the hand wringing from we 'normal' folks. Should'nt we be getting on with the real issues that lie before us? Surely the prospect of two consenting same sex adults saying "I do" is a bit less daunting than the ongoing slaughter that rules the day.
