Who's kidding who?
Iraq's prime minister, Nouri al Maliki, is extending amnesty to youths
that have attacked U.S. troops calling them 'patriots' defending the homeland. We are in fact supporting a regime that regards the United States as an invader rather than a savior. We are being used as chess pieces rather than partners in the war on terror. It has become increasingly obvious that the newly formed Iraqi government will not prevail as long as the people regard it as a puppet of the United States. Let's not kid ourselves about that. Who's to say that once the Shite majority holds the reigns of power they will not wreak the same abuses upon the minority Sunni's as were wreaked upon them when the Sunnis were in control?
It's a sad state of affairs that so much blood has been shed to bring democracy to a land that has always been ruled by the sword and is prepared to accept into their midst those who have waged war against American troops who were sent there to free them from the yoke of tyranny. It looks like the' yoke' is on us.
