The pot calling the kettle...

Cal Thomas, in his recent column, "Democrats hichjacked be Extremists," once again demonstrated his uncanny talent for making stupid allegations against those who don't conform to his "extremist" conservative agenda. He calls Democrats who disapprove of the war in Iraq and how it has been mishandled by the administration, "The Taliban Wing of The Democratic Party." It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine him calling those who protested the war in Vietnam, "Viet Cong Democrats." For Thomas to call ANYBODY an extremist would be funny if his own extremism wasn't so all-encompassing and vehement. Hasn't it gotten through to this man that over 60% of the voters in this country, according to him, are "Taliban Democrats"? I wonder if Thomas would have heaped so much praise on senator Joe Lieberman if Lieberman hadn't supported Bush in the war. I, too, like the Senator from Connecticut and was sorry to see him defeated, but when a politician ignores the wishes of his constituency, that is the risk he takes. It blows my my mind to see Thomas refer to Iraqi war protesters as "Taliban Democrats." Won't somebody please advise the man that the Taliban were from Afghanistan, not Iraq? Most Americans supported our involvement in Afghanistan and are still waiting for the capture, "dead or alive," of Osama Bin Laden.
Cal Thomas keeps telling those of us who do not support the administration's handling of the war that "we don't get it." When the votes are finally counted in 2008, we'll see who "got it" and who got it wrong.
