Hold that trigger
Once again the White House is revving up the rhetoric and putting military intervention "on the table" This time it is North Korea, preceeded by Iran and in both cases it involves the pursuit of, or the continuation of, the building of nuclear weapons.. Both North Korea and Iran have been branded rogue nations and a threat to the world. It is a little baffling to understand why it is that this country alone is so quick to threaten military intervention as though the only option left for them is to comply to our demands or be obliterated. It may get down to that at some point, but why now? Even if both North Korea and Iran had a stock pile of nuclear bombs, where could they use them? They have to realize that even if one bomb were launched at any country, they would immediately be reduced to embers and cosmic dust. In the case of Iran it has yet to be proven that they are attempting to build nuclear weapons and yet the " military option" remains "on the table". Our table, in any case.
Whoever it was that said, "keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer" was no fool. It seems to me that at this stage, at least, we need to keep them around the negotiating table and watched....closely. How easily it is for old men to send young men and women off to war and make them selves sound so righteous and heaven blessed. The militant warriors of Islam are masters at this and there are times I feel that our leaders can give them a run for their money.
