Playing the tax card....from the bottom

I would like to address a subject that has troubled me for a long time. The subject is taxes and the assumption on the part of Republicans that I, as a Democrat, love them...taxes that is, not Republicans. Taxes and big government; Mmm Mmm good. I can't help but reflect upon the fact that those who do the most screaming about taxation are those who control most of the wealth. These folks will sometimes go to extreme lengths to avoid or limit their input and the fact of their privileged positions allows them to get away with it, more often than not. Most of the Republican candidates in the up-coming elections are playing the 'tax card' to the hilt. They would have us believe that if elected they will guarantee us lower taxes and smaller government. If it seems that you have heard this song before, your ears are not playing tricks on you. Notice that I have not referenced the current state of the nations fiscal condition. Why state the obvious? Why mention just who benefits most from tax cuts when that too is apparent to the most casual observer? Of course the subject of taxes is an important issue. The point is that it is NOT the most important issue we have to deal with. As for big government.....has it ever been bigger in living memory? Good Lord, if we Democrats are truly the tax and spend, big government people, imagine what it would be like if WE were in charge instead of the "low taxes, small government" crowd, ergo Republicans who are. HORRORS! The mind boggles.

Well, this may all be much ado about nothing since there is a strong possibility that those bad old "Big Government, Tax and Spend" boys will be coming to town soon. Hold your wallets in readiness.
