Letter to the editor

Cal Thomas, in his most recent column, continues to 'stay the course' in his constant berating of liberals and moderate Republicans. It's not enough to just be a Republican anymore. In order to meet Thomas' approval, you must adhere to the rigid conservative line that brooks no deviations. Mr. Thomas never takes into consideration that his constituency does not represent anything close to a majority take on the issues of the day. Americans as a whole, reject extremist views whether they come from the left or from the right. At least up until now they have. Columnists like Cal Thomas only further the growing divide of American political opinion by catering to those who maintain a 'my way or the highway' mentality such
as his. Thomas bemoans government interference into private lives while at the same time fostering its involvement in abortion, same sex marriage and stem cell research. How these issues come down as any business of the Federal government is a mystery to me. Cal does'nt hesitate to inject his religious views into his columns and apparently sees no merit in the separation of church and state. For someone who claims to abhor governmental input into the affairs of the people, he seldom follows the script when it comes to advancing his agenda of right wing ideology. He wants us to be in lockstep with his views while keeping his mind slammed shut to the possibility that he might be wrong.....about something.
