The sad truth
There comes a time when enough is enough. I never thought I'd be the one to say it, but I've grown tired of the shrill rhetoric from both sides of the Iraqi dilemma. If there are still those who think the invasion of Iraq was a wise move, may they languish in their delusion and be left in peace. It really no longer matters who did what and why and when they did it. There's enough blame to spread around to encompass everyone. There's no bringing back the dead or putting a rosy spin on the chasm that exists between the people and the government. We would have to be mentally impaired to find any solace in the glib words of self serving politicians or career minded generals. We are at a crossroads where we either crawl under a rock or take bold steps to repair the seemingly irreparable. Our nation's credibility has been tarnished and our hearts hang heavy in an atmosphere of gloom and doom that I have not seen in my lifetime. The one glimmer of hope that remains is that we reach into our grab bag of good, competent, and morally motivated men and women, regardless of political background and turn them loose on the problem. There will be time enough to lay the strap on those proven to have unjustifiably brought all this misery down upon us. That time is not now. Now is the time to gather around the wagons and stand together against the storm.
