Fair warning
Making New Years resolutions are kind of like receiving obscene phone calls: the fewer the better. Last year I vowed to tone down the letters I contribute to this paper and try to express my opinions in a less stridulant manner. In other words, I intended to mute my true feelings and go for a more touchy-feely approach to the issues at hand. I'm afraid I failed miserably in this intent.......therefore I would like to extend to those I may have offended, my sincere regrets for having done so. I only hope that events will prove me out and justify my smug certainty that I was most likely right about whatever issue was involved. This hope will probably never come to bear and is just wishful thinking on my part, but make no mistake, I will be back to rail against the outrages that confront us.
If that sounds like a New Years resolution, looks like one and walks like one, then it more than likely has to be one. Be forewarned.

What we need most in America is a man or women that will stand up and say his peace even if they are ridiculed for what they think. America is not the most accepting country but can be influenced indirectly by a few powerful voices. Those who set goals are the ones who try to change something in their life that they maybe unhappy with. In my opinion race and religion don't matter. What does is how you treat people and how you try to help those in need. I would say that you are not defined most by what you do when people watch you but what you do when they are not.
