Opinionated opinions

Ernest Wade, in his response to my letter where I criticized "attack dog" tactics employed by columnists such as Bill O'Reilly, reminded me of the same tactics used by opposing Democrats such as Michael Moore and Barbara Streisand. The point is well taken of course and when the rhetoric is excessive on either side, it serves no one well. Ernest went on to say the the reason conservatives appear to be more strident in expressing their views is because they are more 'independent" in their thinking. It is at this juncture that I must abandon Wade's train of thought. I would hardly categorize the right wing never-questioning (until recently) adherence to the administration's handling of the war In Iraq as "independent". Mr. Wade, in previous letters, has cast some pretty pointed spears at Democrats, going as far as to suggest "treason" in their opposition to the war. I too, admit to expressing some pretty vehement opinions of those who condone it, so I'll back off from calling the kettle black in this instance. Ernest Wade has strong grievances with both parties and usually presents his case with skill and style. I consider him to be a true independent and I applaud him for it. As for being right? Well, not always, but nobody's perfect, I suppose.
