Where is it?

Baghdad continues to be a shooting gallery without end. Just the other day, motorcycles roared through town with gunmen blasting away, killing dozens of civilians and elsewhere, bombs were exploding, slaughtering over a hundred more. Where on earth are the security forces? With thousands of American and Iraqi troops stationed in Baghdad, how is it possible that these killings go on unabated. Who is minding the store? Americans are being called upon by the President to back his "new way forward" plan which calls for a "surge" of an additional 21,000 troops and
we are urged to be patient in spite of the dismal track record shown so far in maintaining any kind of order amidst the chaos. I don't know whether or not Baghdad is under martial law. If it is, there is little evidence that it amounts to anything. If not,why not? I don't think that we are being unreasonable to expect some signs of success in curbing the violence. As for the length of our patience, Mr. President, the fuse grows ever shorter. I don't believe the clock can tick much longer.
