Stumbling in the dark
Two prominent Virginia Episcopal parishes just announced their separation from the church because of differences surrounding the acceptance or rejection of gays into the priesthood. Normally I would never intrude myself into matters of religeous beliefs, but I would like to express my puzzlement and dismay at the obvious fact that those who are destined to come into this world genetically different in sexual orientation from the main stream populace will be made to pay a heavy price for the rest of their lives for something they had absolutely no control over. Neither they nor anyone else knows why or how we come to be what we are out of the jumble of genetic soup. I therefore respectfully submit that the only abomination here is one of injustice on the part of a society that second guesses the power they claim to believe to be the creator of all life, I know all about the claims and accusations that exist in religeous scriptures that denounce deviations in sexual orientation, but I wonder at the fact that they have nevertheless been a realty since the recording of time on this earth. This is neither an endorsement or a rejection, because
that power or that right is not mine to give. I do, however, reserve the right to question.
