Don't like the regimen? Change the Regime

I never thought I'd live to see it again, but we have an administration that considers changing the regime of countries whose leaders we don't like. We did it in South Vietnam at the beginning of our involvment there and again in Chile when The CIA arranged for the assassination of the duly elected President of that country (Allende?) because he was a Communist. This time around our "all options are on the table including the removal of existing leaders" policy applies to Iran and possibly North Korea if it continues to annoy us.So far it has not been a very successful policy.

We tried to depose Fidel Castro in the ill fated Bay of Pigs fiasco and he has subsequently survived eight United States Presidents and despite old age and illness he may well outlast number nine. The point is that a regime change should happen only when the people of that country want it to. We did not wait for outside forces to wrest our freedom from the British. We did have some help from the Germans and the French, but only after we gave them permision to lend a hand. We did not let them stick around to share the fruit of our victory. Freedom must come from within and as long as outside involvement has not been requested by the beleagured citizens of any nation, nosy parkers should take heed and butt out.
