Something to ponder

Welcome to the new one class society. The only class that seems worthy of mention these days is the so-called middle class. Every politician, regardless of party, wants to help the middle class. Rarely is any mention made of the upper class except in pejorative terms and if there is still such a thing as the lower class they are usually referred to as "the working class poor". By today's standards, "middle class" incomes range from around $60,000 or so. I used to be considered a middle class person. I don't even come close today. It was once considered a given that anyone running for political office had to proclaim his desire to alleviate the suffering of the poor. Apparently the poor.....and the rich don't exist any more, just the middle class.

You'd think that since a majority of the men and women serving in the armed forces of this country came from the "working poor," income-wise, the politicians would devote a little more time and energy to that social category. Of course, its all about getting elected and nobody gets elected without substantial support from the middle class. What the heck, poor folks probably don't vote anyhow and rich folks, well most of them stick with one party. Okay, most of this diatribe is tongue in cheek muttering, but I just can't help wishing I was still considered middle class and had the income to match.
