Right off the wall
It may take awhile, but I'm fairly sure I'll get over Dick Yarbrough's latest column. "We need you to run, Zell Miller". Yarborough trashes all of the current people of both parties who are running for president and includes former president Jimmy Carter in his diatribe. He yearns for "a dynamic, clear eyed, don't tread on me or I'll kick your fanny to the moon" kind of leader. He wants to see a guy with his finger poised on the 'red button', ready to shout "let's roll"at the slightest provocation. Well, I voted for Zell Miller when he ran for governor. I believed that as a fellow Democrat he would represent my interests. Silly me. When Miller cast all pretenses aside and addressed the Republican convention in support of George Bush, he became a modern day Benedict Arnold as far as I was concerned. Zig Zag Zell, as he came to be known to most Democrats, should have been up-front enough to switch parties and quit pretending he was a Democrat.
All that aside, what would Dick Yarbrough have had to say if the situation were reversed? What if Zeller had been a Republican and addressed the Democratic convention in support of the Democratic candidate? Well at least he found one "Democrat" he could praise to the heavens. Now he needs to brace himself for the coming of a REAL Democrat to the White House in the near future.
