Much ado about nothing

Jay Wagner, in his recent letter, "Romney makes good point about Obama's lack of experience," is wasting no time in going on the attack against the senator for his remarks about going after Osama Bin Laden wherever he may be hiding, with or without a grant of permission from the 'host' country. Not a wise way to go, perhaps, especially since the likely 'host' country is Pakistan, a partner of convenience in our war on terror. I say this because its doubtful the unpopular government would last a month without this country's backing. The fact is that Obama is not the first to make such threats. Must I remind Mr. Wagner that President Bush, in his famous "dead or alive" speech used similar rhetoric not too long ago? Is he suggesting that we should sit on our hands and allow Bin Laden to operate unopposed in Pakistan because that government is unwilling or unable to take him down? Of course it is a dilemma nobody really wants to face, but campaign rhetoric can often be taken with a grain of salt. If Barack Obama truly believes what he says about going after Bin Laden, then he was right to say it. Or should we just go on closing out minds to anything that we don't want to hear? Mr. Wagner said Sen. Obama was "a change from Jane Fonda to Dr. Strangelove in one week". Nice analogy, Jay; when are you going to face up to the Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde administration you continue to support?
