One sick bird

"Illegal" pretty much describes the condition of the bird that symbolizes the United States these days. It also describes the fastest growing segment of our population.
It isn't bad enough that we're hard wired into one of the most unpopular and frustrating wars in living memory, but we are forced to endure the limitless pouring of illegal immigrants across our sieve like borders. There are numerous plans being put forth to end both, but there doesn't seem to be any consensus within either party to implement them. Both of these thorny problems are presently on hold, waiting, I suppose, for divine providence to show the way. Barring that, praying that one of the presidential hopefuls can rise to the task and somehow pull the nation together and fix the boo boos. I was about to add that we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it, but recent events make me wonder if crossing bridges is such a hot idea right now. It does come to mind that if we were we to engage in a flurry of infrastructure reclamation, there is a labor force of..oh I don't know, twelve to twenty million or so, standing by. I just hope we can keep the terrorists from blowing up whatever we rebuild. I can't imagine why anyone would be crazy enough to want to be President in these times, but God speed to whoever ends up in the oval office in 08. The present occupant is most surely counting the days.
