All fall down

Prime Minister Nouri-al Malaki of Iraq is upset with American critics of his regime and how it is dealing with sectarian violence and civil war.He seems to be totally oblivious of the fact that his regime is failing to do just that......unless ,of course, the term "dealing with" has lost something in translation. You have to give the man top marks for 'chutzpa' in attempting to snatch such fantasy from the jaws of chaos, but I'm afraid it just isn't 'playing in Peoria' or anywhere else. Malaki's Shiite controlled government isn't about to share anything meaningful with the Sunni or Kurdish minority any time soon if it can possibly help it. Every day that goes by, the Iraqi parliament appears to resemble Saddam's hand picked Sunni government, except now they wear suits instead of uniforms........and the Shiites are behind the wheel instead of the Sunnis. Whoever rules the roost in that country has no intent to share power, oil revenues or anything else. American style democracy is on nobody's agenda and never has been, accept perhaps, In George Bush's dreams. This may be one of the few truths that has emerged from this venture into madness. Humpty Dumpty is in free-fall and where and how he'll come together is anybody's guess. May the surge be with us.
