To trade or not to trade
It won't come as big news that the Chinese are inundating our market places with cheap shoddy products, some of which are even toxic. Everybody knows this, but the lure of low prices is strong enough to keep us shelling out for the cheap crap anyhow. Now I'm not going to go so far as to demand that we ban all Chinese imports. After all, we did this to Japan in 1940 and they repaid us in 1941 by blowing up our Navy at Pearl Harbor. There's no telling how the Chinese would exact THEIR revenge. They might even throw McDonalds out of the country. The balance in trade gap between our two countries gets wider every day and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. So, you might ask, what do we do about it? Well, for openers we might pipe American commercials and political debates into their television system until they cried uncle and up-graded their quality control. Barring that extreme measure, we could always go back to manufacturing our own cheap crap. After all, this is America where all things are possible. Let freedom ring.
