Deja vu all over again
Vice President Dick Cheney has warned Iran that the United States would not tolerate nuclear weapons being built there.....or else. While the "or else" was not spelled out, there is little doubt of what "would not tolerate" meant. We are threatening armed intervention and the opening up of yet another war zone in which to expend our resources, both human and material. While other nations have approved sanctions against Iran, none have issued the threat of armed intervention. None, other than us. The Bush administration has brushed aside the call for diplomatic negotiation and has proclaimed itself sole decision maker in how to deal with the situation. Cheney's display of arrogance and dist\dain for other voices is nothing new, but is just another example of the kind of gun boat diplomacy that has brought us to this dismal place
in international relationships, We do not even have proof the Iran intends to build nuclear weapons. In the worst case scenario that they did, where could they use them? The launch of a single missile against any nation would result in a retaliatory strike that would leave it a smoldering ash heap. If there must be a military intervention, let it not be another go it alone escapade by this country. We've been there, done that. Enough is more than enough.
