Letter to the editor

It has occurred to me from time to time how things may have turned out if certain events in history had been handled differently. What if, for example, the United Nations had the foresight when creating an Israeli state on Palestinian soil, they had at the same time seen to it that the Palestinians had been granted a sovereign state of their own right alongside Israel? While it may not have been seen as practical or even possible at the time, who knows how it may have played out on the world stage to-day? Arab terrorists have used the Israeli/Palestinian dilemma to justify and excuse acts like 9/11, claiming the high road in their Jihad against the west for its invasions and occupations of Arab lands.Well, I suppose Native Americans could lay claim to the same injustices they suffered under the white man, but unfortunately for them, champions for their cause among the developed nations of the world were few and far between. Today its a far more dangerous world and there are forces afoot that can destroy us all if we don't pay heed to the mistakes and injustices of the past. I doubt that the fanatical extremists out there who are terrorizing the world give a damn about the Palestinians. They just want to change the face of the globe in their image.....or obliterate it.
