What's to lose?

Ernest Wade, that erstwhile opponent of illegal immigration has repeatedly spoken out against what I call the triple axis of evil, which are, (a.) porous, poorly guarded borders. (b.) Employers that hire illegals and (c.) Congressional legislators that lack the knowledge or willingness to stop it. I believe there's a parallel between this situation and the one we face with the lop sided trade arrangement we have with China. In the case of illegal immigration, we have a people problem, whereas the culprit regarding the Chinese trade dilemma, is a product problem. Too many illegal aliens crossing our borders and too many Chinese products entering our market places.

If such a thing as a solution exists in both cases, it may be one that applies to both. Simply put, Stop hiring and stop buying. I did say, "simply put", didn't I? I do not believe that we can realistically prevent illegals from finding a way to get here. On the other hand, why would they STAY here if there are no jobs? If we enforce the laws that exist against the hiring of illegals, that could at least start the wheels in motion. As for the inundation of Chinese products, American companies who market these products must impose safety restrictions that would slow down the flow while they try to rejuvenate their own manufacturing abilities to create made in America
products. The American people can bite the bullet and put the pressure on these companies by limiting the number of Chinese products they buy and insist that they undergo serious safety inspections before they are put on the market..Whatever the final out-come, it will inevitablly cost somebody something. It would be great if that somebody isn't just us, the long suffering and sometimes deluded American public.
