"HE THE PEOPLE"

Cal Thomas, running true to form, as the self-appointed moralist of our time, is in full rant about the Connecticut court's recent acceptance of gay marriage. making it the third state to do so. While I don't for the life of me, understand how anyone has the right to decide who marries whom, or for that matter what possible impact it would have on the 'sanctity' of straight marriages. I'm not going to argue the pros and cons of this issue other than to make the statement that during my 40 year marriage to the woman I love, I have never once felt threatened by the idea of two gay people wanting to have a wedding ceremony performed to express their fealty to each other. I realize that it would be pointless to try and convince those opposed to the idea of gay marriage on religious grounds that people whose sexual orientation differs from our own are no less human in their love for each other. Do we really have time to wallow in such matters? Are there not enough issues of greater magnitude to deal with? Thomas goes onto warn us that under the Presidency of Barack Obama, we can expect the courts to be dominated be those who favor same sex marriages. The fact that Obama has repeatedly said he does not, has apparently failed to register with Cal Thomas, whose mind set is never far from the cement mixer. His views never seem to have a problem with getting into print. On this particular issue it would seem only fair to raise an eyebrow or two in opposition.
