Hope springs eternal

There's a lot riding on the Presidential election this year and I'm not just talking about the issues held closely by divergent groups or political parties. To me, the most important and probably the most destructive impediment to our continuation as a government of the people, by the people and for the people, are the social divisions and horrendous income gaps that divide us. We can talk Democracy and Free Enterprise Capitalism until the cows come home, but there is nothing that's been happening on Wall Street lately that conveys any comfort in those words to all too many Americans. We've seen highly placed business tycoons abuse their power and betray their trust to their employees by lying and falsifying the true financial standings of the companies they control. They simply 'took the money and ran', leaving behind the debris of bankruptcy and lost jobs. Whomever wins the Presidency should not be influenced and sweet talked into investing time and money in disastrous ventures that endanger the welfare and safety of our people and benefit only those who already hold the winning cards. We all have a past President in mind that we would like to see re-incarnated, but since that's not likely, let's give the new guy his turn at bat and our united support...for now.
