No job Joe
Just when you concluded that politics could not get any sillier, along comes Sarah Palin with her "six pack Joe" followed by Sen. McCain's "Joe the plumber" blubbering that Sen Obama was denying him the "American Dream" by suggesting that just maybe the American people might welcome better access to the good things in life through a fairer tax system and job availability. "Socialism", cried John McCain. So far he's stopped short of calling social security and medicare 'socialistic' ideas, but I suspect the notion hasn't been far from his mind. The people who are the first to condemn what they call 'entitlement programs' are always those who need them the least. Does anyone really believe that the ones who have the 'deepest pockets' care about "six pack Joe" and "Joe the plumber"? The main theme that courses through the veins of Republican rhetoric is taxes, taxes and taxes, and the ones who whine the loudest about having to pay them are the ones whose life styles are the least affected by them. Has anyone noticed how seldom the vast ocean of people in this country who live below the acknowledged poverty line are ever mentioned by either party? It's almost as though they don't exist. The so called 'Middle Class' is front and center on every politician's lips. Frankly, I don't even know what that is any more. Come to think about it, you don't see too many politicians courting
the upper classes either, so its 'go middle class, go', I guess. This old man is more confused than enthused about the state of the nation, but at least I didn't have to stand in line long to cast my vote. I'm just not sure where it ended up.
