If President Bush is a lame duck in his presidency, Cal Thomas is a crippled turkey as a political columnist. He can't seem to control his venomous rant against President Elect Obama long enough to give the man a chance to jump start his program for change. Change is the one thing we can never hope to see in Mr. Thomas's one way or the highway mentality, but he will always find a brotherhood of like thinkers waiting in the wings to try and derail what George Bush used to call "a new way forward". The new president of the United States has been given a clear mandate by the people to lead and guide this ship of state for the next four years. The least the likes of naysayers like Cal Thomas can do is allow Obama to take office before trying to relegate him to the trash bin of history. There will be time enough for that in the coming years and there will always be men of ill-will standing ready to slash and burn. At the same time, there is a solid core of good citizens, willing to wait and see before taking up the sword and lighting the torch. May the power be with them.
