Will the chain remain unbroken

It looks like there's yet another major issue our two major political parties are getting geared up to go to war over and that's stem cell research. This is not a new issue and it it will probably not end up in anyone's win column today or tomorrow, but it will be one that will send its tendrils in many directions. For some it will mean crossing the bridge between science and spirituality. It will demand answers to age old questions that the religious and scientific communities have belabored over for generations. The big and arguably the most contentious heart of this issue is, simply put, what constitutes the starting point of a human life? Where does life begin? This is where I start seeking an early departure, because I don't have a clue how to prove or refute the options. Religious doctrine varies and so do scientific conclusions., but in most issues of contention, though rarely of this magnitude, a way is found to set a course that will be acceptable to most people. if they are convinced that its benefits outweighs its shortcomings. We can only hope wisdom will prevail in the end and mankind will make another giant step forward.
