The die has been cast
In reading Jay Cavanaugh's letter, "Broder way off comparing Obama to Ronald Reagan", I was struck by how soon it took for the right wing pundits to accuse Obama of having a "Marxist philosophy". I probably shouldn't have been surprised because that's the label they have usually laid on every Democratic President in recent memory.
Since presidents are chosen by the majority of American voters, I guess we would have to assume that most of us share the "Marxist philosopy" with President Obama and his Democratic predecessors. Ronald Reagan, the darling of the conservative right wing, was often called the Teflon" president during his time in office, but not by me because I thought he was a decent and honorable man, although George Bush the first once revealed that Reagan slept through many of his cabinet meetings. It's really becoming tiresome to listen to how loudly the right wing squawks when taxes are raised on the rich and powerful, clinging to the trickle down economics theory that has obviously flat lined for the working people of this country. It seems to me that, defying the rules of gravity, the trickle has trickled up.not down. If the truth were told, social security would never have been enacted if they had their way. Too socialistic. Oh I know I'm going to be called anti capitalist and an enemy of free enterprise, but I also know that dog won't hunt. I believe that there should be room for more than one system or political philosophy in accordance with the wishes of the people being governed. This time around, most Americans seem to like what they see in President Obama and whatever ism he represents.
Past presidents had their day. Let them rest in peace.
