Living high at the summit
I have to wonder if President Obama might be thinking of a way to buy back his Senate seat as he fights his way through the London mobs on his way to the G-20 summit meetings. I tried to follow Prime Minister Gordon Brown's address which was fixated on how to save the word's economy and other mundane issues like global warming.
I was among the many Americans who were impressed by the way our President handled himself over there. He is undoubtedly one of the most articulate and knowledgable men ever to occupy the White House. Some say he'll bottom out in his first term and never serve a second one. I hope he'll prove them wrong. The first lady seems to have caught the imagination of just about everybody involved, despite the fact that she committed the not to be tolerated sin of touching the queen . The queen
did not freak out however, so life moved on. While the meetings between the world leaders seem to be progressing well, it's almost impossible, for me at least, to grasp the magnitude of what they are attempting to achieve and the amount of money it will take seems endless and only available through the twilight zone. The London police are doing a great job in mob control and the mobs themselves have shown reasonable restraint except for the occasional whacko like the guy who smashed out the window of that bank. There will always be over-achievers in every venture I suppose.
We can only hope that something substantial will come out of this gathering of the top dogs and, regardless of our political affiliations, that our President will continue to represent us well there and continue to do so back here where we can use all the help we can get.
