Move over Ronnie
Cal Thomas, the columnist who never misses an opportunity to place former President Ronald Reagan on a pedestal, has just expressed his anger and dismay with voters who are, in his opinion, idolizing President Barack Obama in much the same way.
Thomas expresses concern that the President might believe his own press and "a president who hears nothing but praise is likely to be less cautious and more enamored with himself". I don't recall a single time when Cal applied this 'warning' to the Ronnie Reagan fan club, so forgive me if I don't find his 'concern' a valid reason for repudiating our new President at every turn in the road, Can we, in all candor, really believe that President Obama, despite a world wide positive assessment of his character and his intelligence is going to be so influenced by praise of his leadership as to lead the nation into dangerous waters? I have to attribute Thomas's hostility towards Obama to emanate from the fact that there have been no Republican 'super heroes' in the White House since Reagan and Cal just can't stand it. When someone sets out to find nothing but fault in another's job performance, it has all the ear marks of prejudicial judgement of the worst kind. These are exceedingly difficult times for our country and the challenges are almost overwhelming, consequentially these premature and unfair dire predictions of Presidential performance coming from narrow minded men like Mr. Thomas should be taken with a grain of doubt. Certainly our leaders should be held accountable for decisions made, but in the name of common sense and justice, at least give them a chance to meet the challenges. Mr. Thomas. "tear down that wall",,,,,, of political hype.
