The deepening wedge
I have never been comfortable with rubber stamped congresses or Presidents with set in cement points of view and a deaf ear to opposing ideas that were at least worthy of consideration.Land slide victories are rare for Presidents these days and there are no guarantees their tenure will go beyond one term. There are issues in progress that are threatening to our very existence and no input of ideas should be rejected out of hand, I cannot help but feel that a bad case of partisanship prevails and every decision being made is largely based upon party politics Sure, that's to be expected to some degree, but what I see is lock-step adherence to whatever the political pundits deem to be the gospel of how the nation should be led. When one party considers itself to be the harbinger of 'family values' and religious righteousness while at the same time implying that those whose interpretation may differ, are socially unacceptable, we have the beginning of the unravelling of the fabric of what made us unique in the first place, a nation united in spite of diversity. All this may be over-reacting on my part, and the ship of state may well be sailing in safe harbor. We may want to check our sails though, because there are storms brewing just over te horizon.
