A hot time at the old town hall

Town hall meetings are fine when they are informative, constructive and civil.
What's going on now in the Health Care situation is more like a bar room brawl with
no holds barred. The one ingredient in all this that sticks in my craw is the bare fact that is most prevalent is that the 'bare facts'' are generally not facts at all and generated by opposition forces to confuse and enrage . Outright lies are continuously flowing into the channels of dialogue to the point where voters don't really know which end is up.

Frankly, I am among those trying to wade through the muck of distortion to arrive at an intelligent conclusion.. It' a simple matter to reject out of hand any proposal made by the president when you have no intention whatever to hear it out, based purely upon partisanship. I believe most Americans would like to see a plan emerge that will benefit all of us and close the gap between those who have decent medical coverage and those who don't. This will never happen as long as ignorance and hot tempers rule the day. While there will always be contentions between parties an it is a rare day when everybody sees the same light under the door, there has to at least be a willingness to do what President Linden Johnson wisely suggested so many times, "to sit down and reason together". "FAT CHANCE"! you say? and you may be right, but there may come a day soon when it may be the ONLY chance we get.
