We hear a lot lately how divided we Americans are and that we'd be more on the mark to drop the' United' when referring to our country. I don't know though; "States of America" just doesn't ring the bell, does it? There never was a time when we agreed on everything, especially on politics. We weren't designed to be clones of each other and why on earth would we want to be? Imagine the thought of being marooned on an island with foks who thought exactly like us. I'm talking long termed maroon here, Same politics, same religion, same likes and dislikes in everything. Differences of opiinion would probably become felonies. Surrounded as we are by all these conflicting views and opposing approaches on how to live. we would not likely see any revolutions occur, because we couldn't put a large enough of a majority to-gether to form a strong enough army to maintain control. We may not be at that point yet, but how far off can it be? It was bad enough when we couldn't get our leaders to agree on much, but now it's almost impossible to get each other to agree with each other on anything. Just the other day my wife called me a closet commie for suggesting the government have imput in health care. I accused her of trying to deny my righteous place as family head based on my male sex alone. She did thank me for injecting a little humor into the conversation . We don't HAVE to be in lock step with everybody, but every now and then it wouldn't hurt to......well, just get along.
